Week #44 - Tineke

It was speech day and my body was shaking with fear. Was I going to get in, or was I going to make a fool of myself? "First up," called the judge, "Molly Smith". Phew...it wasn't me. As I listened to Molly deliver her speech I became jealous, She was AMAZING. After her speech I heard the audience chanting her name. I knew that they were going to chant my name too. "Next up Tineke." I walked on the stage, butterflies in my tummy. Then the crowd erupted with laughter. It worked, the audience laughed and I came first.

Week #44 - Noah

Roar! The yeti chased me down the steep mountain. Even though I was running at full speed I could hear him catching up. Then when I thought all hope was lost I saw a parachute on the edge of the mountain. I looked behind and the yeti had stubbed his humongous toe, so I ran toward the parachute. When I got there I looked behind and the yeti was coming, at the speed of light I put on the parachute and jumped! When I reached safety I went to a bar and told everyone, then the crowd erupted with laughter.

Week #44 - Nixie

One cold circus night a crowd bunched up on seats to watch the amazing hornet (an elephant) and the two wonky clowns. “I wonder who would like to join us on stage…?” said a wonky clown. They looked around and pointed at a small boy. He ran down the slick steel stairs and on the platform the clowns found a heavy briefcase but they couldn't pick it up then the small boy picked it up and the clowns were shocked and when the small boy gave it to the clowns they immediately dropped it, then the crowed erupted with laughter!

Week #44 - Venice

I sprinted across the field, trying to catch the ball that escaped Natalie’s hands. Suddenly, the opposing team snatched the ball before I could lay a finger on it. They tried to shoot but the ball bounced on the ring and into my hands. I swiftly turned around and passed it to Anna. (who had outrun her partner) I ran forward and did a quick pass back and shot the ball in the goal. Then the crowd erupted with laughter. Then I realised, I had the wrong ball! I used a little rubber ball! My cheeks flushed scarlet. Uh oh!

Week #44 - Venus

My heart thumped like thunder, I walked up to the stage. I breathed slowly but instead let out a croaky noise. My face turned beetroot, then the crowd erupted with laughter . They’ll regret it, I thought. I started reciting my poem into the microphone. The judges gazed at me with awe. I said the last words. Scribble their pens went. I sat down. That one mistake ruined everything. A few moments passed of them whispering. A judge stood up ,walked towards the stage then spoke clearly into the microphone, “The winner is... Amelia Rosebank!” I knew they would regret laughing.

Week #44 - Kiko

Luckily, my speech was next. Unluckily, the person in front of me was taking hours … Luckily, I could go onstage for my speech. Unluckily, my mum was sitting in the front row, humiliating me. Luckily, I was almost done with my speech before I noticed she was  videotaping me. Unluckily, I realised at the end of my speech I was only in my  underwear! Then the crowd erupted with laughter. Luckily, I zoomed out of there before anyone took photos. Unfortunately, my mum was videotaping me, so my undies are now a permanent part of my history, and...  THE INTERNET.

Week #44 - Kayleigh

One sunny morning I was walking down the street with my dog Lily when I saw a huge, yellow and red striped tent.  I thought to myself, “what could it be?”  Suddenly I heard laughter coming from inside the weird thing.  I was amazed by the sight when I entered the room, it was a circus!  Then the crowd erupted with laughter.  “Haha, so funny”.  I quickly grabbed a seat near the exit, and told Lily to be quiet so she wouldn't get sent out.  One long lasting hour went by while we were in the tent eating buttered popcorn!

Week #44 - Roaness

I heard the crowd roar as they were cheering for the enormous elephant who made the funniest joke I’ve ever heard in my life. The breezy wind flowed down my spine, I felt a shiver like it was an earthquake in my little body. As time went by there was only one more animal to go and his name was Croc-Anater. His joke was hilarious, so much so that just then the crowd erupted with laughter . It was the end of the show, I felt the calm, cold breeze again. I went jogging home carefully as it was quite windy.

Week #44 - Sophia

'Aaaaa' I yelled. I slipped on a banana peel, then the crowd erupted with laughter as they saw that I fell. It was so hilarious that I was laughing so much I found that it was hard to breathe. I heard the screams of the people saying 'More!' Then a chant started. I couldn't let them down so I did more  throwing pies into clowns and riding a little car. I wondered what it would be like if I was a clown that would be amazing. I could make anyone laugh and be happy so I decided to be a...

Week #43 - Venus

Then it began . I turned the front page of the book, I started reading. The book swept me into its wonderful story. I felt as if I were really in the book. It painted a picture in my mind. The story starts at a house, goes into a forest, walks into a candy house and ends at the start. I dived into the next story. Minutes later I'm in the middle of the tale. A strong blast of icy wind interrupts me from my story. For a second I am transported to the real world. Sigh. I lost my page.

Week #43 - Kayleigh

Once in a far, far away land lived a famous mountain hiker.  Then, one miserable evening Molly was drifting swiftly along the murky depths of the icky water.  Suddenly under the water Molly spied something moving! With her growing confidence she kept on going because nothing could stop her now.  Then it began…   a terrible storm was caving in on her.  Rowing hard and desperately she finally got to the soft grass.  “Phew”, Molly said, safely in a sigh of relief.  But the black finned monster was still lurking around.  Sleepy but terrified Molly walked home.  “No hiking for me”.

Week #43 - Sophia

Splash! Water was hitting below a tiny, mossy cottage. It was only midnight when the floods began. All of the stores were shut because of the water going out of control. I wonder how it happened? I asked myself. Then it began. The storm was picking up speed and it might cause damage to our town. I can only hope that it will end but nothing is lucky in my town. It's been 6 months since the outbreak and still we have to use anything to clear water for cars to drive. It's been hard and I still don't know...

Week #43 - Tineke

Then it began… The lights turned on and I heard the audience cheering and chanting my name. I was frightened but I did not show my fear. I walked onto the stage with confidence not letting anything stop me from being brave. That night I performed the best performance ever. It had clear and beautiful moves with a voice that echoed through the town like a soft and delicate flute. My life had changed from that day on,  I became a famous actor and performed in lots of famous shows. So my words  are be strong and brave be you.

Week #43 - Noah

Zoom! I raced so fast that when my car hit a bump it flew through the air. It seemed to take years but I finally landed on the road. I knew I was speeding but I didn't care, I couldn't miss a second of the action. Suddenly I saw blue and red lights in my peripheral vision. I went to pull over when I realised I would be late for the game, so I sped off. The cop seeing I sped off chased after me. When I reached the grounds, the cop told me you're under arrest, then it began...

Week #39 - Alex

I was lost in the frosty arctic. My only friends were my Ford and my dog. Yesterday was the 102nd day, stuck in the never-ending blizzard. To make matters worse, my Ford got stuck in a crack in the ice. I thought I was done for, because it contained my essential s.  In the distance was a polar bear, walking towards me. At first I thought it was hunting me, but it turns out that he just wanted to help me. Together we tugged on the wire, desperately trying to get it out. It did. I want to say thanks, bear.

Week #39 - Harriet

Zzzz.. it's morning, time to go hunt. I'm allowed because I'm over 10 years old. I wanted to surprise my mum so I went hunting. The snow wonderland is freezing my feet.  I keep getting far away from home. I found a big shed. I turned around and realised that I'm lost! Oh no!! Soon I get picked up and thrown in a car. After a few hours the man comes back to check on me. Then I hear the growling of another polar bear. Could it be my mum? Has she come to rescue me? Please come help mum!

Week #39 - Noah

Passing through Antarctica, my car sputters with the pressure. I can’t stop now, civilization is miles away! Suddenly my car comes to a stop, but my fuel hasn't run out. I go outside to see what has happened... I see a polar bear with its claws dug into my car!!! Without taking an eye off me he takes his claws out of my car!! As quickly as I can, I jump in my car and take off towards civilization.  I end up on an ice lake, and the polar bear is at the edge of the lake! I'm definitely stuck!

Week #39 - Kayleigh

“Grrrr” I say, I am so hungry.  Soon enough I spy a snow covered car in the frosty arctic land.  “I hope that no one else has seen it, because I want it!”  I leap over to it and start to sniff out a strange smell?  It was human!  Quickly I try to grab it but someone appears from the back of the car.  One never-ending hour goes by, just the two of us fighting over the covered car.  “Roar” I growl still very hungry.  I give up and walk sadly back to my cave.  No food for me today!!

Week #39 - Gian

Oh gosh! What a freezing day it is. Harold worked as a photographer. He took many breathtaking pictures and posted them on apps. Each Sunday he walks two tiring miles in the freezing snow. One Sunday, as he was looking for some gorgeous views, he saw a huge polar bear bounding across the snow finding food, he looked starving. Harold quietly started to move backwards, while the polar bear was distracted. Harold accidentally dropped his camera and the polar bear saw him!! Harold dashed to his car but he had lost the key... there was only one way to run!!!

Week #39 - Venus

I was plodding along the arctic ice when my eyes caught sight of a person in a car. I Wondered what he tasted like, I wondered. Wait, this is wrong. I just had to help him. His car wasn't even moving  and he doesn't belong here either. I'll just help him move his car, I thought. I pushed and pulled. Then looked in the car. Seriously? He wasn't even there any more, he didn't even exist. There, in front of me sat a skeleton. I could slap myself. He had already died. Well at least I got his leftover food.

Week #39 - Lachie

It was Sunday and I was going on a four-wheel drive with my mates. But when I got in my car there was  a big polar bear sleeping. I called my friends and said four-wheel driving has been cancelled because something has gone wrong. I took a photo of the polar bear to show my friend Liam but the polar bear snatched the phone out of my hands! He ran off into the distance, I probably thought he'd gone to the pet shop to eat all the food in sight. Where's my credit card? Oh no!!! Get back here you!!

Week #39 - Karaitiana

Screech! I pushed with all of my strength onto my brakes. I saw a big, white, furry thing looking straight at me. I hopped out of my car and saw a huge polar bear about to pounce. I sprinted to the other side of my car. All of my belongings were about to be smashed. I thought maybe if I gave the bear my keys he would be happy. I chucked my keys at the bear and what did it do? It shattered the window and started the jeep!! Oh no! I didn’t want to be stranded out here alone ...

Week #39 - Venice

When I got back to my car, a bear was trying to unlock it! I needed to get Granny’s car back, or I’m dead! “Professional researcher” I, showing my badge, “you're touching private property. I have to press charges against you if you don’t give it back!” The bear glared at me and shouted “ THIS IS A ROBBERY! GIVE ME ALL YOUR CHIPS OR YOU DON’T GET YOUR CAR BACK!!” I didn’t know what to do! “I don’t have a-any chips,” I stuttered. “ THEN THE CAR IS MINE!” Shouted the bear as he drove away in the car. Oh no!

Day and night he planned this all out! it was the time he shared it. He ordered his citizens to go to the park as he finally had courage to do the speech, he stepped up and then the elephant delivered his speech.

Week #38 - Venice

Today was my sister’s birthday, so she chose where to go for her party. I begged her to choose to go Disneyland because there would be cotton candy and face paint, but all she did was open her big mouth and list ALL the reasons why we SHOULDN’T go to Disneyland. Then she demanded Mum to go to the zoo. Yikes!  When we got there, EVERYONE was commenting about my sister’s pretty pink princess dress. Bleh. When we passed any animal at all, my sister would say, “Mummy look! A penguin!” Then the elephant delivered  his speech “GO TO DISNEYLAND!!!”

Week #38 - Nixie

The zoo animals were mad! They wanted revenge on the humans. Then the Elephant delivered his speech, “We should not be trapped here my fellow friends” all the other Elephants agreed. As they were figuring out the plan, a shy Elephant said “I don't think this is a good idea...” but they didn't listen. The next morning they had all gathered up to knock down the door. But nothing happened, another hit, nothing happened. All the elephants were confused and the elephants were sold to a circus and then the elephant said “I told you it was a bad idea”

“And I promise that we will be fed better food. Thank you.” The crowd clapped and cheered at the great speech. Hippo knew he nailed it. “Trunky the Elephant.” said the judge.  Trunky anxiously crept to the stand. He was quite nervous. He put his mouth to the microphone. Then the Elephant delivered his speech. “I promise that if I get elected as animal president, I will give all animals their own private bathroom.” The crowd went wild! Especially the lions. Ferdinand challenged himself to draw a tree with a lion resting on one of the branches. So far Ferdinand was in the lead, with the most colourful, realistic and the most neatest. 18 long minutes later, the time was up. Ferdinand was said to be 1st place. Woohoo everyone cheered. Then the Elephant delivered his speech… ‘’Thank-you all for being here and cheering for me, I hope you all enjoyed it’’.

Week #38 - Venus

Stampy was a quiet little elephant who wasn't confident at all but, today was his day. “First up is Stampy Elephant!” the host exclaimed. Seconds passed and then the elephant delivered his speech. It was about climate change, “please put this to mind.” He delivered his last sentence. The animals clapped. His parents would be very proud of him, he thought. Too bad they were dead. He flashed back to the moment they died. He was only one, but he still remembered the horror very clearly. The audience clapped loudly. “Thank you Stampy.” the judge spoke loudly in his microphone.

Week #37 - Kiko

This priceless viola has been lost for hundreds and hundreds of thousands of years. It was forged by an ancient blacksmith, in the Roman empire with the shiniest gold . Researchers have searched and searched for this ancient artifact, but the antique is nowhere to be found. One sighting was in the mouth of a volcano, but it fell off the other side. Another was in a deep, dark cave discovered in 1396, but the cave caved in, burying the discoverer. The absolute most recent discovery was in the pacific ocean, but bleak and very rusty.  NB: these facts are untrue.

Week #37 - Sophia

A long time ago there was an ancient city. But nobody knows where the city was. Some people have gotten lost in a maze just because of the ancient city. Some people play the viola for people going to find the city. The presidents have been giving gold for the search. Little people survived the search. Everyone searched high and low round mountains and below the ocean. Little have succeeded, only the chosen one, but nobody knows who the chosen one is. Do you know who is the chosen one?  And will they succeed? Will one survive and the other...

Then my dog did something so weird I didn't know what to say.  He jumped into the water with a splash and started riding the alligator down the river to my friends. He could steer the alligator! He jumped off when he reached my friends and then the alligator disappeared.

Week #35 - Venus

Lyla was a 10 year old. Running away from her aunt’s was a hard decision. She lived in the middle of a forest. All kinds of dangers were around. Tired, she looked up at the sky. It was getting dark. She spotted a small cave beside a lake. It was the only place to go. The wolves would come out soon. So she clambered inside and fell asleep. Suddenly she woke up. Walked outside, looked in the river and spotted a scruffy dog struggling to get out of the river. Struggling, she pulled him out. The two became great friends.

Week #35 - Luca

We’re here kids, let's get out  of the car. Why are we at a river? I thought we were going to the beach. Come on, it'll be fun we can even go up to the mountain. It's even got snow! Ok, then we can try. I don't even want to go to the mountain . I don't care what you think we are going to the mountain. Fine I’ll go just because I want to touch snow again, but it will still be boring...I know it will be! We are halfway there. Wow the snow! This is actually quite fun!

Week #35 - Dave

Walking through the deepest part of the forest my dog came running to me, he was happy. I hadn’t seen him happy for days. Then I heard something. I think it was someone. I was super worried. My dog was going too far. I gave him treats so he came back to me. But all along we were following my dad? He was going fishing. I didn't know dad fished here. He said there were a lot of fish in this river.  My dog had a drink from the river while dad fished.  When they finished we went back home.

Week #35 - Tomasi

My dog and I were in America and we wanted to go somewhere quiet where there was no loud noise. We went to the river and started to like the quiet there. I went into the water and it felt like someone or something was pulling me, but it was just the seaweed. When I looked back at my dog, my dog made a loud barking noise. I stopped him because this is supposed to be a quiet day! My dog always makes barking noises, I started to think I liked the noise. I was having such a fun day!

Week #35 - Haimish

I’ve found the right spot in the giant forest. It looked amazing! Water flowed like a nice breeze with the perfect temperature. The sun was shining bright and the wonderful, colourful birds were singing. I knew this was the right spot! I set up camp and made myself quite comfortable. The hours felt like ages but it was so nice. But later at night while I was sleeping…. I heard a creepy creaking noise followed by a giant ROAR. I went out to investigate, as soon as I got outside, I realised the noise was coming from a berry bush...

“Storm, there’s a wild boar! Chase it - go boy go!” No the wild boar has escaped, just as my dog had his tail and he was about to snap it.  The wild boar sprang into the water and swam right over to the other side. He hit his leg and fell to the ground. This is good but all of a sudden my dog just stopped and growled. I was frustrated that the wild boar got away. As I was about to leave I saw the mountains when I slipped on a rock. Everything went black I was knocked out.

Week #35 - Lachie

It was the middle of winter when a dog found a slump and it had a lovely view of the mountains and lake. The legend goes that there were teeth like a giant dagger of the swamp monster lurking in the waters below . The dog hopped into the water hoping for a nice relaxing swim when everything changed! The swamp monster leaped up swallowing the dog hole. The dog was whining like a baby the whole way down the throat of the swamp monster. The swamp monster returned to its home and from then on, dog was its favourite meal.

Week #35 - Gian

It was a lovely day to go fishing in the cool lake. I took my dog with me in case something bad happened. We walked half a mile to get there. It was a good exercise and my bag was so heavy, containing fishing rods, bait, water, treats for my dog and more… We caught 13 fish and 3 eels. We were so lucky!! We ate three fish for dinner. While we were fishing it was so cold , but our fish paid off. The fish that we caught were so big  and they were so incredibly yummy with soy sauce.

Week #35 - Noah

Cambodia, a truly amazing place, the place my parents want to stay and fish. I mean I wouldn't blame them. It's a place with an astonishing amount of wildlife for a place poorer than Argentina. Anyway once we found a good place to fish we took out our fishing rods and I caught a trout with a little bit of help from my dad. After catching around eight fish we let our dog explore a bit and he accidentally caught a fish! So we called him back to go check out Cambodia.  Cambodia is an awesome country - you should go!

Week #35 - Tineke

It was a cold winter's day when Lilly and I set out for an adventure. The wind was wilder than ever and the trees were bare. I could hear the swift noise of the river flowing down gently. It was lovely until I heard Lilly scream! What had happened, swirled in my brain. I couldn’t believe it, Lilly fell in and was not swimming. I barked as loud as I ever had. After a few minutes I saw people. I was relieved Lilly had been saved! I looked up with my head proud I had saved my best friend's life.

Week #35 - Roaness

I was having a nice breezy walk in the wonderful warm forest with my dog.  Suddenly my dog Tom ran off barking. It was so loud I felt like I would turn deaf! It was like my dog was screaming or yelling my name. I thought my poor Tom was in  serious danger, so I ran as fast as I could to get to him. When I caught up, I saw he was barking at the grey fish.  I thought I had better get home because I had walked for hours.  Before I left I saw the enormous, humongous mountains.

Week #35 - Cooper

The sun was steaming on my silver, white fur while I was running as fast as I could to the coldest lake ever. After what seemed like forever, I finally got there. Look at this lake, I wonder how cold it is! I can't wait to get into that cold refreshing water. Let's take a cool off in the lake. I finally jumped in and it’s amazing.  Wow… well that huge tree looks like it's going to fall into the lake! I better get out of the way..... Splash!! The tree falls into the water! That was a close call!!

Week #35 - Indi

It's a cold day and I found a dog.  I wondered where the dog's owner was?  There was no one there. I didn't know what to do, so I thought and thought for a while.  I stopped taking photos and I went to go and look for the dog's owner.  I can see a car has just left. I wondered if the owner was in that car?  That exact car came back and I do not know what to do. I go over to the car and I ask, “Is that your dog?” She said, “Yes that is my dog.”

They followed her to a beautiful lake and a… DOG! Lizzy and Star ran to the cute adorable dog.  “Her name is Victoria,” said Rose. “She is ADORABLE!” said Lizzy and Star. They both started to pet her. “He is actually a boy,” said Rose.

Week #35 - Harriet

As I run through the dark spooky woods at night I find myself lost. I wonder where I am? I look all around and find nothing. All I can see is glistening water and mountains far, far away. I look over to my left and see a boy, I run up to him because I smell treats. He puts his hands in his pockets and walks away. I bark loudly and run after him. since I don’t have an owner he gave me a treat. some dog food and water.  He then took me to his place, it was cozy!

Week #35 - Alex

Brrr it is very cold in the hills I probably should put another coat on. Well my dog seems fine, maybe he is just trying to act all tough for a bone. Roar!!! We hear the faint roar of a NZ Red Deer. It sounds really far away. But then, crunch there it is… standing right across the river staring me down!!  My dog starts barking at it and scares it away. In ten or fifteen minutes it comes back to take a drink. I get my rifle set up for a good shot, and then  BANG! It goes down.
